Onboard Cordelia Cruises
Fancy a cruise from Mumbai? for the first time in India, we have our very own premium cruise liner called Cordelia Cruises. The ship that once sailed near Bahamas is now sailing India’s east and west coast. Although not very majestic as compared to the recent Royal Carebbean fleet, Cordelia cruises do offer an experience that surpasses domestic cruise standards. I had the opportunity to embark on a 4 night cruise – Mumbai – Lakshadweep – Mumbai and listed below is what you need to know about the cruise liner:
Accommodation – Ocean view state room:
A private cozy cabin admist the sea packed with ameneties like:
- 24′ Television
- 4 water bottles are complimentary per day.
- Comfortable twin beds
- Additional bunker beds
- Bathroom with a private shower enclosure.
- life jackets
- hairdryer & a dressing table.
This room can easily accommodate 2-3 guests. Along with this room, you unlock many other complimentary facilities on the ship as listed below. For a 4-night cruise, I paid INR 50,000 + 18%GST per head which was totally worth it.
Restaurants & food:
The ship hosts 2 restaurants named Starlight & Food Court. Meals at both are inclusive of the stay package you opt for. A flagship restaurant called Chopstix however is chargeable coupled with a semi-casual dress code. In my opinion, Cordelia Cruise ranks high in food if your taste is more towards the Indian cuisine. For a person like me who fancies more of continental cuisine, the food experience is satisfactory.
People with Vegetarian or Jain meal preferences will not be disappointed as they do have a separate section at the Starlight restaurant. As a part of your package, you can avail 5 meals a day i.e Breakfast, lunch, high tea, dinner & midnight sandwiches.
Activities:
Rest assured you will never be bored as a plethora of experiences await you. Cordelia has a detailed schedule sent to your room each day that lists all activities you can indulge in.
Marquee Theatre:
With a capacity of over 700+ guests, Marquee Theatre hosts number of events like Dance shows (Bollywood Romance), play (Chak De Balle), Magic Show (Magician Tejas). All in all, there is a show for everyone right from 5 to a 50 year old!
Chairman’s Club:
With a capacity of over 100+ guests, the Chairman’s Club is the epicenter for all live music shows on the ship. Sip on a drink and sing along to famous ballads inspired by bollywood and Western music. Everything about Chairman’s Club oozes luxury and finesse of the highest degree.
The sun deck:
The sun deck is home to a cozy swimming pool and jacuzzi on the ship. There is a baby pool for toddlers too.
That’s not all! Shake a leg to the beats played by a DJ on Deck at sundowner parties hosted most evenings and moonlight parties every night.
The Dome:
Groove to hip-swinging music at the late-night parties hosted at the Dome. Additionally, it also provides Happy Hours to guests who have purchased premium packages i.e Stateroom with a balcony and above.
This lively spot offers the finest selection of spirits and even houses a private area for larger groups.
Health club (GYM):
There is always time for some exercise! The ship hosts an impressive gym with state-of-the-art equipment that takes care of your fitness needs while on a holiday. Being a fitness freak, the gym to me was a paradise!
The Casino:
Experience a glimpse of Las Vegas on the ship! try your luck at the casino on your holiday, and win big! The excitement never ends at the Casino. From Teen patti to Roulette the vibe and experience is unmatched.
Lakshadweep shore excursion:
Lakshadweep’s magnificence lies underwater with 4200 sq km of archipelago lagoons and coral reefs, making it the ideal place in India where you can snorkel or scuba dive in the reefs. In addition do enjoy attractions like the banana boat, glass bottom boat, and a cultural dance show on the shores of Lakshadweep
Things to remember:
- Excellent shows/entertainment onboard.
- There is no cellular network as the ship starts sailing. Satellite wifi however is available at an additional cost with limited speeds.
- Food prepared is of the highest quality, more inclined towards Indian cuisine.
- For the sake of hygiene, do maintain proper swimwear etiquette while taking a dip in the pool.
